Iran sends condolences to Sri Lanka over floods, landslides

TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) – Iran’s FM spokesman Ghasemi on Mon. sent a message of condolences to Sri Lankan government over the devastating floods and landslides in the country in which at least 164 people have been killed.

In the message, Bahram Ghasemi voiced deep regret over the devastating floods and landslides in Sri Lanka which killed at least 164 people and have left dozens of others marooned, expressing sincere sympathy to the government and nation of Sri Lanka, as well as the families of victims.

According to local officials, the flooding is the worst since May 2003 when 250 people were killed and 10,000 homes destroyed after a similarly powerful monsoon.
